Parish Council - working together with the pastor to promote the spiritual welfare of all persons within the parish in the spirit of, and in accordance with, the directions of Vatican Council II. The Council is concerned with the total needs of our parish as a community dedicated to the worship of God and the service of all its members to sanctify their souls and the souls of others through the practice of a fully Christian life. It communicates the actions that it has taken to the parish and listens to members of the parish in order to best serve their needs. Although the needs of our religious community may be variously divided and defined, broad areas of concern to which the parish should give attention are: worship, religious education, spiritual works of mercy, social concerns and stewardship.
Liturgy Committee - main function in general is to oversee the Sacramental Life of the parish and the liturgical appearance of the church. Responsibilities include planning special liturgies, providing music at all special and extra liturgical activities. Providing banners - planning use of them, putting up & down as needed. Planning Holy Day Masses. Planning Reconciliation and Para-liturgical services. Training, scheduling, and laundering garments of Altar Servers. Overseeing lectors, lay ministers, and ushers.
Religious Education -Information can be found here.
Social Concerns - responds to the needs of our people, and in emergencies to provide food, shelter, and clothing when needed. We strive to bring about justice where there is injustice.
Finance Committee - The Parish Finance Council is a consultative body of lay persons mandated by the Code of Canon Law to advise the pastor in matters pertaining to the financial affairs of the parish. The parish Finance Council is advisory to the pastor and its decisions/recommendations are valid only when accepted and ratified.
Ways & Means - and a commitment to be creative and resourceful to raise the monies to meet parish needs and activities. This Committee is trying to be creative by reaching out beyond the parish resources, as well as, trying to be creative in bringing a little fun (and a little payback) in the ways parishioners are asked to give of themselves to keep our parish family alive, social and caring. These socials represent 15% of our parish income; these socials give us an opportunity to work, play, and grow together as community. But the expenses to keep our Church and its activities are substantial as the cost of living keeps rising. To continue all of these activities, our Committee’s commitment is to help find the ways and the means for all to continue in various ministries. St. Ambrose parishioners have been and are very generous with giving of their time, talent and resources. The Committee is always open to workable ideas and would most certainly welcome enthusiastic members willing to help and plan!!
Knights of Columbus - Our local council, Bishop Robert F. Joyce Council 10535, is very active in support of both St. Ambrose and the local community. Through dinners and other fund raisers the council contributes to church repairs and improvements, youth activities such as scouting and sports, and organizations that provide emergency services.
